BAFA covers up to 80% of your consulting costs – we handle the application

Depending on where your business is based, 50 or 80 percent of the eligible consulting costs are reimbursed, up to €2,800. We check whether you qualify and take care of the application, so it costs you no extra effort. There is no legal entitlement to the funding – BAFA decides on approval and amount.

Up to 80% of your consulting costs as a grant – we handle the application

Depending on where your business is based, the grant is 80 percent (up to €2,800) or 50 percent (up to €1,750) of the eligible consulting costs. It is calculated on the assessment basis of at most €3,500, not on the total project cost. We check which rate applies to your location in advance – and we take care of the application.

*Example for a business location in the 80 percent region: 80 percent of the €3,500 assessment basis gives a grant of €2,800. In the 50 percent region it is at most €1,750. The applicable rules are the funding guideline „Förderung von Unternehmensberatungen für KMU“ of 14 December 2022 as amended on 12 December 2024; the programme runs until 31 December 2026. Up to five consulting engagements are eligible in that period, at most two per calendar year. Since 15 November 2025 the grant is calculated on the gross invoice amount for applicants who cannot reclaim input VAT. There is no legal entitlement to the funding; BAFA decides on approval and amount. As of September 2026.

How likely is it that I will get funding?

Very likely. As long as all the formalities are in order, we have not yet had a case that was rejected.

What are the formalities? Does my company even qualify?

If your company is not a consulting firm and has been formally incorporated (GmbH, UG, GbR, etc.), it qualifies (no sole traders and no large affiliated groups). If your company was founded less than a year ago, a meeting with a regional IHK representative is mandatory. If that applies to you, get in touch and we will put you in contact with someone.

How much am I entitled to?

The grant is calculated on the assessment basis – the maximum eligible consulting costs of €3,500 – and on the rate that applies to the location of your business: 80 percent in the new federal states (excluding Berlin and the Leipzig region), 60 percent in the Lüneburg region and 50 percent in the old federal states including Berlin. That is a maximum of €2,800 or €1,750.

What is funded?

Funding covers consulting on all economic, financial, personnel and organisational aspects of running a business. The consulting has to be conceptual: after analysing the company's situation, weak points are named and concrete recommendations for action are given. Only individual consulting engagements are funded.

How does the process with BAFA work and what do I have to do?

1. After the formal engagement we ask you for 6 pieces of information, which are used to complete the application. You will find it here: https://www.nugrow.de/bafa-antrag

2. It takes a few hours to 2 days for the application to be approved. You then receive the prospect of funding, confirmed by a document (the grant notice). We need this grant notice in order to proceed.

3. The project can then start.

4. What matters for BAFA is that the invoice is only issued after the grant notice has been produced.

5. Once we have carried out the project (or while it is still in progress), we produce a BAFA report. It is uploaded to the platform together with our invoice and proof of payment. This is the only step where you have to do something – we send you instructions for it and are happy to walk you through it by phone.
