How business partnering works
Initial consultation and needs assessment
The process starts with an initial consultation in which we understand and analyse the specific needs and goals of your company. On that basis we develop an individual finance service plan tailored precisely to your company's requirements and challenges.
Implementing financial systems and processes
Once the scope is defined, we introduce the necessary financial systems and processes. That includes implementing accounting software, setting up the chart of accounts and integrating financial management tools designed specifically to support young companies as they grow.
Ongoing support and optimisation
We provide continuous support and regular financial reviews to safeguard your company's financial health. Through ongoing advice and adaptive financial strategies, we help you respond effectively to changes in the market and in your company's development, and to keep making the best financial decisions.
Frequently asked questions about business partnering
What is finance business partnering?
Business partnering means the finance function does not only report what has happened, but supports the operating units in their decisions: pricing, investments, hiring, customer segments. Reporting becomes a sparring partner who is fluent in the numbers.
How do you tell that business partnering is missing?
Three typical signs: decisions are made before anyone has run the numbers. The month-end close arrives so late that it is only history. And the operating units build their own spreadsheets, because the official reporting does not answer their questions.
What has to be in place for it?
A close that is finished early enough, and a chart of accounts that mirrors the questions the business actually asks. As long as personnel costs sit in one collective line and marketing is not split by channel, even the best business partner can only estimate.
Does it need extra headcount?
Usually not. As a rule it is about redeploying capacity that already exists: what goes into producing reports by hand today is freed up by automation and becomes available for supporting the operating units.
How long does the changeover take?
The first visible results – a faster close, a set of metrics management believes – typically arrive after three months. Changing the role of the team itself takes longer, usually twelve months.
How does this differ from controlling?
Controlling supplies the numbers, business partnering uses them in the decision. Both need the same data foundation – the difference is whether the finance function sits at the table when the decision is made, or reports on it afterwards.
