NetSuite
NetSuite is a cloud ERP suite covering accounting, inventory, order management and CRM in one system.

What NetSuite does
NetSuite is a cloud ERP suite, founded in the United States in 1998. Rather than solving one part of the finance stack, it puts accounting, inventory, order management and supply chain into a single system, with CRM alongside it. The case for it is usually made when a company has outgrown a standalone accounting tool and is maintaining too many interfaces between systems.
Features
- ERP core: accounting, inventory management, order management and supply chain in one data model.
- CRM: customer interactions tracked in the same system as the commercial data.
- E-commerce: functionality for running an online storefront on the same platform.
- Configurable: the suite is designed to be adapted and to scale with the company.
- Cloud: browser-based access, with a third-party application network around it.
Strengths
- One data model: fewer interfaces between finance, operations and sales means fewer reconciliations.
- Room to grow: the same platform carries a company through several growth stages.
- Breadth: processes that would otherwise need separate tools sit in one place.
Limitations
- Pricing is not published: there is no transparent price list, so any comparison needs a quote.
- Cost: the vendor's own material acknowledges it can become expensive, particularly for smaller companies.
- Implementation effort: both users and administrators face a learning curve, and the rollout is a project, not a signup.
Alternatives
- Xero – cloud accounting when a full ERP would be oversized.
- Workday – HR and finance in one platform, with a stronger HR side.
